My Story

BSpoke Patterns is the culmination of my sewing journey so far.

 

Let me introduce myself, I’m Rachel and I started playing with my Gran’s Singer sewing machine when I was four. It always fascinated me watching my Gran sew, and her garments were impeccable. With her encouragement, I learned some of the basics at a young age.

Fast forward 30 years and I returned to the sewing table. Sadly, Gran was no longer around to teach me, but my beloved Singer was there to inspire me. Driven by this, over 10 years I honed my skills, learning how to grade and alter standard dressing making patterns to fit my 5ft10” frame. And finally, I learnt to draft my own patterns in my own proportions.

Drawing on my professional background in technology services, and my desire to create 'make-in-a-day' outfits, I developed the BSpoke Patterns algorithm, so that other hobby sewists can skip a few long, and lets face it, boring steps.

​
